If you’re a die-hard fan of Dodge Muscle, you’ve probably spotted the SRT logo. But what exactly does it stand for? We’re here to break it down for you in plain and simple terms.

What Does SRT Stand For?

SRT stands for Street and Racing Technology. It’s a special name used by Dodge (and sometimes Chrysler and Jeep) for their most powerful and high-performance cars. These vehicles are built to be super fast on the street and even ready for the race track. SRT cars usually have powerful engines, strong brakes, and cool designs that help them go faster and handle better – a dream come true for automotive enthusiasts.

Current Dodge SRT Lineups

SRT is associated with the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, and Dodge Durango; some popular models include:

  • Dodge Durango SRT: An SUV equipped with a HEMI V8 engine, offering class-leading torque and towing capacity.
  • Dodge Challenger SRT: A racing muscle car with great horsepower and fast 0-to-60 times.
  • Dodge Challenger SRT Demon: The first-ever ultra-muscle car to perform a wheelie and the fastest to reach 60 mph (2.1 seconds).
  • Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye: It can pump out up to 797 HP and vanishes past bystanders in a heartbeat.
  • Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat: This model blends power and comfort with 717 HP, a roomy cabin, heated and ventilated seats, and little vibration and road noise.
  • Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye: The class-leading four-door muscle car in terms of horsepower (797 HP) and speed.
  • Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody: As its name implies, these cars come with wide-body styling and extended fenders (+3.5 inches) for superior grip, stability, and stance.

What Can You Expect From Dodge SRT Vehicles?

SRT vehicles are built for people who love speed, power, and performance. Here are the key benefits you can expect when driving an SRT model:

  • Extreme power and acceleration: SRT vehicles come with powerful HEMI® V8 engines, some even supercharged, producing over 700 horsepower. Models like the Challenger SRT Hellcat and Dodge Demon can go from 0 to 60 mph in just a few seconds, delivering a thrilling driving experience.
  • Track-ready performance: These high-performance vehicles aren’t just fast in a straight line; they’re designed for the race track, too. With features like optimized suspension, performance tuning, and precision handling, you get high control even at top speeds.
  • Advanced braking systems: High speeds require strong brakes. SRT vehicles are equipped with Brembo braking systems, which are known for their stopping power and heat resistance. This means safer, more reliable braking when it matters most.
  • Aerodynamic styling: Every SRT vehicle is carefully shaped to reduce wind drag and increase stability. Functional hood scoops, spoilers, and wide-body kits don’t just look cool. They improve performance by helping the car grip the road better.
  • Exclusive engineering: Each SRT model is the result of precision engineering, often developed by a team of performance experts. This includes special chassis tuning, enhanced cooling systems, and exclusive SRT components built for speed and endurance.
  • Street comfort & racing power: Even with all that power, SRT models still provide comfortable interiors and cutting-edge technology features, making them suitable for daily driving as well as weekend track fun.

Our Test Drive

Dodge has carved its own niche for muscle cars in the automotive industry, and its SRT lineups are no exception. We had a test drive with a 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye in 2 weeks. It took 2.4 seconds to go from 0 to 60 MPH, a bit longer than what the brand acclaimed but still the best in class. And this monster finished a quarter-mile in 12 seconds at 126 MPH. We think it could even break this limit if we tested it on a professional race track.
