What Does SXT Mean On Dodge?
The SXT label on Dodge vehicles means “Standard eXtra.” As its name implies, these models strike a balance between standard muscle cars with extra features at more reasonable prices compared to other trim levels like R/T or SRT.
Don’t think that these cars are similar to base models. While the base trim only comes with standard equipment and basic amenities, the SXT cars offer more add-ons, such as:
- Superior exterior styling elements
- Improved interior materials
- Extra convenience and safety features
- Cutting-edge infotainment systems
To illustrate, take the 2022 Dodge Charger R/T and 2022 Dodge Charger SXT for example.
The price of the SXT version only starts at around $34,000, while the R/T trim costs about $44,000. Speaking of performance, the SXT is downright subpar. That said, it’s still equipped with a powerful 3.6L V6 engine that pumps out 292 HP and 260 pound-feet of torque at best.
This SXT model also comes standard with traction control, stability control, brake drying, emergency braking preparation, emergency braking assist, 4-wheel abs, heated mirrors, smartphone integration, and more.

Are Dodge SXT Vehicles Good? Our Test Drive
After testing the 2023 Dodge Challenger SXT for a month, we’ve come to realize that these SXT models lean toward a powerful sedan rather than a true muscle car.
The 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine didn’t quite deliver the power that we’d expect from a muscle car. However, its 0-to-60 time was amazing, at 6.1 seconds. We could rev to 75 MPH on highways, and the entry-level model still ran quietly. The steering was responsive but not exceptionally precise. Considering its affordable price, this Dodge SXT offers a great price-to-quality ratio.
